The wellentime headquarters are at the Gorliz campsite north of Bilbao near the beach in a beautiful bay. Gorliz has a lot of bars, restaurants and shops. There are also possibilities for hiking, cycling and snorkeling.
All our accommodation is located close to the beach (10 minutes walk). The centre of Bilbao is only a short metro ride away.
Spain´s Biscay offers excellent surf conditions from march to november. There are lots of easy-to-surf beachbreaks but also dangerous big-wave spots like Meñakoz and Mundaka - where the top 45 world professionals battle it out on the best left in Europe to win the world championship (billabongpro) in october!
The selection of the surfspot can be made depending on the wind- and wave conditions. If there are no waves (which rarely happens) there is the possibility of snorkelling at the reefs.

The Bay of Biscay's climate is very pleasant. A rainy winter is followed by a warm spring and a hot summer. Autumn is nice and dry.
The best waves are in the summer and autumn, when warm southerly winds blow offshore.
Avoid the winter - winds from the north-west bring rain which means low wave quality...
You can have an evening beer in a number of different surfer´s bars along the beach. Just enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in a friendly ambience.
Come in the third week in August for Bilbao´s yearly fiestas (Semana Grande). Join the exuberant celebrations. Summer is a Fiesta time! Every village has its own fiesta celebrated throughout the summer.
The Guggenheim Museum is world-famous - not only from the James Bond Film... A must see for all Bilbao visitors! Also Bilbao offers the best tapas in Spain!
